Welcome to the November 2020 Workshop

The Department of City Planning is hosting this workshop to present and get feedback from key partners on energy related strategies the department will begin to undertake in the next few years. These projects will be led by Department of City Planning staff and largely do not require outside funding. Once formalized, they will be incorporated into 2021 workplans by division managers within the department.

Your input is essential!

As key partners on the work we have done over the last five years, you have knowledge, expertise, and stake in what we do next. We ask you to put on your thinking caps and critically assess what is proposed throughout the workshop.

How will my input be used?

Staff will facilitate conversations throughout the workshop either with the full group or in breakout groups. This EngagePGH page will serve as our collective white board. We will take notes here and ask you to also add your ideas as you see fit. You will need a free EngagePGH account to add your comments directly. You can create one by clicking "Login / Join" in the upper righthand corner.

One we have your thoughts, staff will refine our proposals and begin to incorporate them into workplans starting in 2021.

Discussion 3: Climate and Energy Committee

This discussion will be facilitated by Derek Dauphin from the Department of City Planning's Division of Strategic Planning. Prompts: (1) Should the Climate and Energy Committee have a role in advising non-City infrastructure projects and private development? If yes, how is their role meaningfully incorporated into the review process? (2) How important is it to try to set clear purview and criteria for the work of this committee up front? Are there lessons to be learned from existing advisory committees like the Contextual Design Advisory Panel (CDAP) and commissions like the Planning Commission and Art Commission? (3) Are there any other issues or opportunities that need to be considered as part of this committee that we haven't identified?
