The Mayor’s Office of Community Affairs exists to connect residents, neighborhoods, and community organizations to City government. Our primary purpose is to ensure that the voices and needs of the public are heard and addressed within City Hall. In addition to constituent services, we also run several programs you can learn more about below.

Programs & Services

  • Constituent Services - The Community Affairs team handles calls to the Mayor’s Office, ranging from issues with policy positions to helping residents navigate city government. Have a question for us? Call 412-255-2913 or email CommAff@pittsburghpa.gov
  • Snow Angels - Snow-covered sidewalks can be hazardous for everyone. The City of Pittsburgh’s Snow Angels Program pairs older residents and people with disabilities with nearby neighbors to assist with snow removal on their sidewalks and walkways. Along with fostering stronger community relationships and relieving some of the stress that comes from a heavy snowfall or freeze, Snow Angels make our sidewalks safer for those who are outside during winter weather like postal workers, firefighters, police officers, and other neighbors. snowangels@pittsburghpa.gov
  • City Cuts - City Cuts is the City of Pittsburgh’s lawn cutting program for our older neighbors, our veteran neighbors, and our neighbors with disabilities who do not have the means to cut their own grass. In 2025, services will be provided twice a month (weather permitting) from early summer through early mid-fall. Applicants must reside in the City of Pittsburgh limits, own the property or be responsible for the grass cutting of the property, lack social or financial means to cut their own lawns. • Dolly Parton Imagination Library - The Dolly Parton Imagination Library provides free books each month that will be mailed in your child’s name directly to your home. The first book is always the children’s classic The Little Engine That Could. Best of all it is a FREE GIFT to your child through our partnership with local organizations! There is no cost or obligation to your family. The Community Affairs Office will now be administering the program alongside Reading Ready Pittsburgh. CJ.Thorpe@pittsburghpa.gov
  • YCLA - YCLA is an immersive one of a kind 13 week program for high school students that cultivates student leaders. YCLA will provide opportunities for youth to access, explore, and experience career fields typically deemed off-limits for youth of color and those without significant monetary and social capital within Pittsburgh including decision-making fields like civics, education, and infrastructure. • Capital Budget Meetings - Every year, the City of Pittsburgh goes through a budget process where City leaders, with direction and input from our residents, must decide where to allocate resources. Before the budget is approved, members of City Council must approve a proposed budget that determines how much money is spent in each of Pittsburgh's nine districts. The purpose of conducting budget engagements is to work with City residents to determine what, where, and how the City should allocate resources. This also provides an opportunity for residents to provide their feedback and engage with City staff. corey.buckner@pittsburghpa.gov
  • LGBTQIA+ Commission - The Pittsburgh LGBTQIA+ Commission advises the Mayor’s Office, City Council, and other City government departments on issues pertaining to the Pittsburgh LGBTQIA+ community. In addition to advising city government on legislative, administrative, and budgetary decisions, the Commission acts as a resource to create dialogue by elevating LGBTQIA+ voices and advancing communication between the LGBTQIA+ community and city government. corey.buckner@pittsburghpa.gov LGBTQIA+ Commission - Pittsburgh, PA
