Project Updates
October 2025 - Construction on the Denniston & Forbes Traffic Calming Project is scheduled to begin with weather permitting. Below is a tentatively planned schedule:
- October 8: Asphalt placement
Working hours will take place from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM to minimize traffic impacts. During these hours, Denniston Street will be closed coming into the intersection with ROAD CLOSED signs placed at the end of each block. Forbes Ave traffic will be maintained with alternating traffic. Flaggers will try to accommodate any residents trying to access their homes on Denniston with some residents needing to find an alternate route.
- October 1: Install pavement markings
Traffic impacts will be minor with traffic held periodically in order to paint
- October 10: Install flexposts
No anticipated impacts to traffic
Project Selection
This project was chosen based on the crash history for vulnerable road users (6 crashes including 1 pedestrian in 4 years) and high concentration of pedestrian generators in the neighborhood. It is adjacent to Squirrel Hill business district and Yeshiva School.
