Project Selection
This project was chosen based on the crash history for vulnerable road users (6 crashes including 1 pedestrian in 4 years) and high concentration of pedestrian generators in the neighborhood. It is adjacent to Squirrel Hill business district and Yeshiva School.

Planned Improvements
- Raised intersection to improve yielding compliance and slow vehicular speeds through the intersection
- Painted curb extensions and flex posts on Forbes Avenue to daylight intersection and prevent illegal parking
The raised intersection was be built out of asphalt inside the perimeter space of the intersection. Pedestrian crossings and ADA curb ramps will remain at their current location and will not be moved. There are no proposed changes to traffic operations including right of way control and turning movements.
Construction is planned for late summer 2025 but no date has been selected. More information about construction timeline and impacts will be shared.
