What Is A Greenway?
A greenway is a permanently conserved, public open space that is primarily stewarded by the community and provides benefits such as minimizing landslide risk, reducing the effects of extreme heat, preserving tree canopy, and creating recreation opportunities.
The City’s naturally steep topography and wet weather events promote environmental hazards such as landslides. As a result, the City has identified underutilized vacant land, mostly on steep slopes and in landslide-prone areas, that could be reimagined as public greenways or open space.
