Project Description

The Pittsburgh Prosperity Project is a two-year pilot that launched in May 2025. The project aims to help disadvantaged workers access foundational resources needed—like housing, healthcare, childcare, and transportation—to succeed in job training and employment. This project also addresses the fragmentation of social services by coordinating wrap-around support with workforce development.

Project Goals

The goal of this project is to streamline access to social services and employment opportunities for disadvantaged workers, creating a replicable model for integrated workforce support.

Phase 1 (June 2025 – Oct. 2025)

The project will support up to 40 workers in its initial phase, focusing on jobs in clean energy and construction. Each worker is matched with an Employment Navigation Specialist who provides personalized support and connections to services. Specialists use existing resources (e.g., United Way 211) and conduct weekly check-ins. The phase includes interviews and surveys to improve future phases.

Phase 2 (Oct. 2025 – May 2027)

The project expands to include a closed-loop referral and case management system, allowing for real-time tracking of services and outcomes. A new Partnership Specialist will onboard and support providers, and quarterly meetings will foster collaboration and problem-solving. Evaluation will include data from the system, interviews, and job placement results.
