2025 Pittsburgh World Cup Event Details

Dates:

• Team & Free Agent Registration Period: May 1-21
• Captains Meeting & Tournament Draw: Week of May 28 (location and date will be provided to team organizers)
• Group Stage Play: June 8, 15, 22, 29 (all Sundays)
• Playoffs & Finals: July 13 & 20 (all Sundays)

Team Divisions:

• Open (no gender limitations)
• Women

Ages: 16+

Game Format:

• 7v7
• 60 minute games
• No overtime during pool play
• Immediate shootouts during playoffs

Team Size: 10 (min) - 16 (max)

Location: Riverview Park Soccer Field

Team Criteria:

Teams can be formed around the following national origins and/or identities:

1. ONE common country of origin (i.e., Mexico) 
2. TWO common countries of origin (i.e., Egypt & Turkey) 
3. Regions (i.e. Middle East, Central America) 
4. Continents (i.e. Africa, South America)

Tournament organizers reserve the right to approve additional team identities, but will prioritize teams formed according to the order of this list.

At least 60% of team members must meet the national origin definition in order to represent that team's national origin or identity.

The City of Pittsburgh defines a national origin as an individual's, or their ancestor's, place of origin; or the physical, cultural, or linguistic characteristics associated with a particular nationality or ethnic group. This includes, but is not limited to, country of birth, ancestry, native language, accent, customs, or physical appearance.

If there are two or more teams that want to represent the same national origin/identity, the tournament organizers will encourage team organizers to work together to make one team. If neither team is agreeable to this, then the team with the highest percentage of members from the national origin/identity will be prioritized. If there is additional space in the tournament, the organizers could offer an additional spot to the other team(s).

Teams in need of additional players will have the option of taking on "free agents".
