Brownsville and W Woodford Ave

9 January 2026

Around 2:50 pm on December 19th, 2025, a young woman standing on the sidewalk at the intersection of W. Woodford Ave and Brownsville Rd. was hit and killed. Weather conditions on the 19th brought on an instantaneous snow and ice storm, causing poor visibility and roadway conditions. These conditions likely caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle, as it slid down the roadway, and onto the sidewalk.

Our Vision Zero Fatal Crash Response Team, which includes the Pittsburgh Police Collision Investigation Unit, has completed a site visit at Rhine Street.

Below are the Team's action items:

  • OCHS will continue to provide trauma-informed care to community members and students, alongside the Center for Victims.
  • In 2027, Brownsville Rd will be receiving a number of corridor improvements, including curb extensions at W Woodford
