Around 7:30 pm on October 7th, 2025, a man with significant trauma to the body was found near the Chestnut Street exit. The PBP Collision Investigation Unit is investigating in an effort to determine the exact circumstances that led to his death.

Our Vision Zero Fatal Crash Response Team, which includes the Pittsburgh Police Collision Investigation Unit, has completed a site visit at Rhine Street.

Below are the Team's action items:

• Engaging with unhoused community members to encourage safe crossings.
• Working with PennDOT to check all lighting along the ramp and provide maintenance as needed.
• Updating mile markers to ensure EMS has a more precise location for future response.
