About the Project
The City of Pittsburgh is excited to move forward with a comprehensive renovation that will create a safer, more accessible, and more engaging community space for residents of all ages.
Interior improvements will focus on reimagining existing spaces to better support creativity, recreation, and community use. Planned updates include new creative spaces such as a recording studio, refreshed basketball and workout areas, and the addition of a warming kitchen to support programs and events. Interior layouts will be improved to make spaces more functional, welcoming, and easier to use, while addressing aging systems and long-standing maintenance needs. A key feature of the project is the addition of an elevator, ensuring full ADA-accessible access throughout the building.
Exterior improvements will enhance both safety and play opportunities. The project will introduce a new ADA-accessible playground, along with a new outdoor basketball court, creating inclusive spaces for recreation and gathering. Exterior upgrades will also improve durability, site conditions, and the overall appearance of the facility, while remaining compatible with the surrounding neighborhood.
Overall, this renovation is centered on accessibility, safety, and community connection, ensuring the facility continues to serve as a vibrant, inclusive resource for Pittsburgh residents now and into the future.
The project will be funded by a combination of Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grants and local dollars.
