ENGAGING OUR YOUTH: Office of Management and Budget Host Immersive Budget Learning Experience for Pittsburgh Public School Students

21 November 2024

A few weeks ago, nearly 40 Pittsburgh Public students joined the Office of Management and Budget for an immersive learning experience focused on understanding the city’s budget cycle. They shared thoughtful insights on how the city should allocate funds to improve their communities. Key areas they highlighted for increased funding included parks and recreation, infrastructure improvements—especially along the routes most traveled by students to and from school—and recommendations for our quasi-government agencies that we hope to pass along.

This collaboration with youth is an incredible opportunity to empower the next generation of civic leaders, and we look forward to continuing this initiative each school year. A special thank you to the OMB team and Education Coordinator, Alexis Walker, for their outstanding work in making this experience both educational and engaging!
