Update: February 2024

  • The masonry work is progressing and remains on schedule.
  • The new pool pump has been installed, but the Department of Public Works (DPW) is still waiting on the right fittings for the pump to the mushroom feature.
  • DPW has been working to satisfy code requirements for the pool equipment room to receive the electrical permit, and has:
    • Installed a new electric cabinet.
    • Continued to address plumbing and electric conflicts.
    • Worked to prevent leakage into the pool equipment room.
  • The electrical work should be completed in early March, but whether it satisfies the permit requirements is up to the inspector.

Update: October 2023

In fall 2023 the Department of Public Works (DPW) entered into agreements for work on Bloomfield Pool. This work includes:

  • Replacing and repairing pool expansion joints, gutters, floors, walls, and sealant.
  • Replacing pumps to the mushroom water feature and pool.
  • Replacing electrical components and bringing the electrical room up to code.
  • Repainting the pool.

The contractor estimates it will take 100 working days to complete the repairs, weather permitting.

Maintenance Needs

The Boomfield Pool could not be opened for summer 2023 due to maintenance issues with the pool facility. To become operational, the city has to: repair mechanical components (such as pumps), update electrical components, and complete physical maintenance to the pool floors, walls, and other parts of the facility.

The city's Department of Public Works (DPW) began maintenance work in summer 2023 with the aim of re-opening the pool in 2024.
