Limited Refuse Loading Zones

The City of Pittsburgh's Department of Public Works (DPW) and Department of Mobility and Infrastructure (DOMI) are planning to deploy new “Refuse Loading Zones” on Chesterfield Road in the coming weeks.

Previously, Environmental Services workers had to navigate tight spaces between cars or carry bins long distances.

These changes, based on resident and Environmental Services feedback about safety and missed or delayed pickups, will establish temporary "No Parking" zones on trash and recycling collection days where residents will be able to put out their bins for collection.

These no-parking/refuse collection zones will be effective from 6 p.m. the day before collection until 2 p.m. the day of collection.

We ask residents refrain from parking in these areas on those days. Residents will also be asked to transport their bins to and from these loading zones for pickup. While parking reduction is limited to one day a week and is limited to a few spaces, the city has collaborated with University of Pittsburgh leadership to develop these plans and share this information with residents to minimize any inconvenience.
