The City of Pittsburgh recognizes the importance of privacy in our data-driven society. This is why we are developing a citywide privacy policy to establish a framework for responsibly handling personal information. To ensure that the policy reflects the needs, concerns, and expectations of our community, we are inviting residents to take our Privacy Survey to provide feedback about what matters most to them when it comes to their data and privacy.
What is a privacy policy?
A privacy policy provides guidance to City employees when working with personal information, establishing a transparent framework for creating new standards and procedures regarding the public's personal information. This policy also clearly communicates what types of data will be collected and what will happen to it. By establishing this foundation and outlining responsible data collection, handling, and storage, the city can demonstrate its commitment to upholding the rights of its residents and visitors.
