Welcome!
The City of Pittsburgh is developing an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.
This plan will serve as a detailed guide to identify and address barriers in public spaces like sidewalks, parks, and buildings, as well as city programs, services, and websites that may be hard to access. By outlining actions to remove these barriers, the plan ensures compliance with the ADA and strives to make public spaces, services, and digital platforms more inclusive for everyone. It also sets priorities, timelines, and budgets to make these improvements.
Your Input is Vital
Feedback from people with disabilities, their families, caregivers, and others with accessibility knowledge is vital to guide the City’s efforts. Earlier this year, the City, with guidance from a consultant team, opened a public survey that asked residents about their experiences in regard to accessibility to permits, fees, programs, and public meetings.
While the survey closed in October 2025, the City will be hosting a series of public meetings to discuss findings and next steps as we move towards a more inclusive and accessible Pittsburgh.
Be sure to stay tuned as we announce future dates so you may join us!
The Mayor's Office of Equal Protection works to build a Pittsburgh that is safe and welcoming to all, and that provides opportunities for everyone— inclusive of our disabilities— to thrive. As part of our quest to increase access to all city events, services, facilities, programs, and infrastructure, we assist with accommodations, grievances, and resources. We seek to engage with people with disabilities and their allies to guide our policy and help us build a roadmap to a more inclusive Pittsburgh.
