Mobility Improvement Toolkit: Example Projects

GOAL

This project will build on recommendations from the recently completed Homewood Comprehensive Community Plan and provide conceptual design (10%) information for the prioritized projects in the Homewood neighborhood. It will build upon prior efforts to improve mobility and safety, encourage physical activity, and provide better access to the public transportation along with local recreational, religious, educational and business destinations.

The project team is committed to involving the community in this planning process. The team will solicit feedback from the community using a variety of methods over the spring and summer months including: virtual public meetings, interactive polls and surveys, and focus group meetings. Timeline item 1 - complete

Field Visit & Safety Audit

The project team used crash data and conducted Pedestrian Safety Audits of key neighborhood corridors to assess safety conditions.
Timeline item 2 - complete

Sidewalk & Crosswalk Inventory

The project team assessed the conditions that exist for sidewalks, curb ramps, and crosswalks in Homewood to determine where there are critical gaps and problem areas in the neighborhood.

Focus Group Meeting

The project team will present findings from the Safety Study & transit, pedestrian & bicycle accessibility and mobility analysis and solicit feedback on issues and opportunities from a focus group made up of community members.

Public Meeting #1

Date- June 21st,2021.
Time- 6PM-7:30 PM.
The project team will present existing conditions findings and an overview of potential improvements. Meeting attendees will vote on their preferred improvements.
