Project Updates

Construction will begin March 24th, 2025 with one corner closed at a time, in order to maintain pedestrian access. Construction will take approximately one month barring unforeseen utility conflicts. There will be some parking restrictions on Neville St. for construction staging.

Project Description

This project is funded through the 2023 City of Pittsburgh capital budget (20%) and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Municipal Signal Partnership Program, also known as “Green-Light-Go” (80%). It consists of the replacement of the traffic signal at the intersection of Bayard Street and Neville Street, located in the North Oakland and Shadyside neighborhoods. This project will include:

  • New strain poles
  • Pedestrian countdown signals
  • Leading pedestrian intervals
  • Accessible pedestrian signals
  • 12" LED vehicular signal heads with backplates
  • New pavement markings and lane configuration to improve vulnerable road user safety

Construction Timeline
