Project Description

This project is funded through the 2022 City of Pittsburgh capital budget (20%) and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Municipal Signal Partnership Program, also known as “Green-Light-Go” (80%). It consists of the replacement of the traffic signal at the intersection of Aiken Avenue and Ellsworth Avenue, which will include:

  • New strain poles
  • 12" LED vehicular signal heads with backplates
  • Pedestrian countdown signals
  • Leading pedestrian intervals
  • Accessible pedestrian signals

Construction Timeline

Construction is expected to begin the week of September 9, 2024 and last approximately 2-3 months.

Work will occur during daytime hours with intermittent lane closures expected. Please allow extra time when traveling through this intersection.
