Project Description

The City of Pittsburgh's Department of Mobility and Infrastructure (DOMI) is installing two concurrent projects near the intersection of Hamilton Avenue and Rosedale Street.

Through the Critical Sidewalk Gaps Program, DOMI is replacing and installing new sidewalks along Hamilton Avenue between Oakwood and Collier Streets. These sidewalks will include new detectable warning surfaces, and will also reshape the curbline at the intersection of Mulford Street, Muti Way, and Rosedale Street. The street will be a consistent width through the intersection, with continuous sidewalk on the south side of the street, and a small garden between existing and new sidewalk. The aim of this redesign is to improve pedestrian safety.

The second component of the project, through the Neighborhood Traffic Calming program, will calm Hamilton Avenue through the addition of a high visibility crosswalk near the Promise Center, as well as a speed table near the intersection with Rosedale. The new curb geometry is also intended to make vehicles slow down to navigate turns on and off of Mulford Street and Muti Way from Hamilton Ave.
