Project Description

The City of Pittsburgh's Department of Mobility and Infrastructure (DOMI) is working on two concurrent projects near the intersection of Hamilton Ave and Rosedale St.

Through the Critical Sidewalk Gaps Program, DOMI is replacing and installing new sidewalks along Hamilton Avenue. These sidewalks include new detectable warning surfaces and also reshaped the curbline at the intersection of Mulford St, Muti Wy, and Rosedale St.

The second component of the project, through the Neighborhood Traffic Calming program calms Hamilton Ave through the addition of a high viz crosswalk near the Promise Center,as well as a speed table near the intersection with Rosedale. The new curb geometry is also intended to make vehicles slow down to navigate turns on and off of Mulford St. and Muti Way from Hamilton Ave.

Hamilton Ave Calming

As part of this sidewalk work, the intersection of Hamilton with Rosedale St, Mulford Ave, and Muti Way will be improved. The street will be a consistent width through the intersection, with continuous sidewalk on the south side of the street, and a small garden between existing and new sidewalk. The aim of this redesign is to improve pedestrian safety.
