Project Update: December 2024

Unfortunately, the City has had to terminate its contract with the general site contractor, and work das been delayed. We will be hiring another contractor to complete the work in the springtime. We know South Side Slopes residents were eagerly awaiting this renovation and we sincerely apologize for the delay. We drafted three design options for the new play equipment and used community feedback (from the survey below) to choose equipment and colors. This is the chosen design!

Background:

The City of Pittsburgh's Department of Public Works will be renovating Eleanor Street Playground in 2024.

The project will include:

  • New playground equipment
  • New safety surfacing
  • Retaining wall improvements
  • Basketball court resurfacing
  • Minor site improvements as budget allows (such as benches, trees, etc.)
