Project Background
In May 2021, the City of Pittsburgh’s Department of City Planning (DCP) completed the Fort Pitt Park Master Plan. The Master Plan focuses on improving existing facilities, namely the home football field of the Garfield Gators, while improving other neighborhood park amenities and enhancing the park's ecology and site access.
The Department of Public Works (DPW), along with consultants Pashek+MTR and community partners, have begun design work for implementation of phases 1, 2, and part of phase 3 from the master plan. This includes renovation of the football field as a high-performance natural turf field, a new practice area, a new parking lot, new concessions / bathroom building, new bleachers, press box, and storage, plus pathways, site lighting, landscaping and amenities, and stormwater management.
