The Project

The Northside Network Phase 2 projects involve a series of streets that could see a number of improvements that will create less stressful biking and walking connectivity within and through the neighborhoods. This suite of projects are the second phase of Northside projects.

While the Northside has numerous streets with bike infrastructure, there still remains significant gaps in making for a complete network.

Initial improvements that DOMI is looking at include:

The Marshall Ave Climbing Lane is part of the overall Northside network of projects, and seeks to add bike facilities on Marshall Ave, between California and Brighton. The improvements have been identified in the City’s 2020 Bike(+) Plan.

The project will improve the overall connectivity and clarity in the bicycle network expanding upon the new Marshall Ave bike lanes, and better connecting the neighborhood to/from the Chateau Trail, making it easier for people riding bikes, driving, or walking to navigate the streets and around each other. Over the past five years, there have been a significant number of crashes on this stretch of road that the project aims to mitigate and improve for all users.

The route will also improve access to destinations such as Oliver High School, Pressley Ridge Career Center, the Chateau neighborhood and business district, the Brighton Ave business district, the Marshall-California Parklet, and Kuhn’s Market.

Through key improvements, based on engineering best practices and community feedback, DOMI hopes to achieve safer, more comfortable streets for all users.
