About the Project

The City of Pittsburgh Architectural Inventory Project is an ongoing series of surveys that identify historic resources in City neighborhoods. The surveys began in 2014 to document existing architectural conditions and serve as long-term land-use planning tools.

Surveys use field data to log and evaluate resources and to identify historic patterns and themes within a neighborhood. For an example of attributes surveyed, see here: Architectural Survey Attribute Fields

As of 2021, the Architectural Inventory has surveyed approximately 13% of properties Citywide. For information on previously surveyed neighborhoods, see here: https://pittsburghpa.gov/dcp/achitecture-inventory
