Meet The Artist
Lori Hepner (Pittsburgh, PA)
Lori Hepner is an artist working primarily in photography, new media performance, and public art in community centered projects. She has spent considerable time over the last five years in community centered artist residencies in three Pittsburgh neighborhoods, in a small Arctic Community in coastal Norway. Lori was featured in the WQED documentary, Visible, featuring five female artists from Pittsburgh. She is Professor of Integrative Arts at Penn State Greater Allegheny in McKeesport, PA and lives in the Brighton Heights neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
Approval for this project was given by the Public Art & Civic Design Commission in August 2023.
Hepner's concept and details about the process of her design development and community engagement can be found here:
The artist, Lori Hepner, will be holding community art-making workshops in Brighton Heights and Riverview Park later this year. During these workshops, people of the neighborhood can experience Hepner's unique light-painting system and capture their own movements to be used in the virtual reality component of this artwork!
