What are chicanes?

A chicane is a series of alternating mid-block curb extensions or islands that narrow the roadway and require vehicles to follow a curving, S-shaped path, discouraging speeding. Chicanes can also create new areas for landscaping and public space in the roadway.

Construction Timeline

Construction work is tentatively expected to start on Monday, May 1, 2023. One lane of traffic on Termon Ave will be closed to traffic , with flaggers stationed at each end in order to allow alternating traffic. During traffic circle construction there will be intermittent closures of the Termon and McClure intersection. Through traffic should seek an alternative route however local residents will be allowed access to their homes. Slight travel delays are likely.

The duration of the project is expected to last five (5) days, weather permitting. Hours of construction will be 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Temporary no parking signage will be posted throughout the corridor where work is taking place.


UPDATE MAY 2, 2023: Due to weather, a portion of construction work has been pushed back in order to facilitate a safe sequence of construction. The chicane and traffic circle construction will now begin next Monday, May 8th.
